That Thing

Missional High School Event

We’ve had enough of the world telling us how we should think, what we should feel, and how we should act.  We’re done feeling like our talents and gifts are not enough. Like we're not pretty enough, smart enough, or good enough. We’re through believing that we’ve made too many mistakes, that the power of Jesus’ love isn’t enough to redeem us.

We’ve had enough of the world’s standards and rules, enough of it’s selfishness and injustice. We’re done being told that we can’t change things, that we can’t make a difference in our world because we’re not old enough or wise enough or powerful enough. We’re through seeing children go to bed hungry, watching young teens be sold into sexual slavery, hearing of people dying from dirty water that fills their body with disease.

We know the solution.

That Thing 2016 Dates

• Session 1: June 19-24
• Session 2: June 26-July 1
• Session 3: July 3-8
• Session 4: July 10-15

Jesus Christ is enough. His love is enough. It’s enough to bring new life. To bring joy to the hopeless and peace to the hurting. He is enough to empower us - to create in us a new being, to send us out as warriors, to fill us with compassion for the broken and courage
to create great change. Jesus’ blood is enough to redeem us. All of us.

That Thing 2016

Meet the That Thing 2016 Keynote Speakers:

Session 1: Carly Bartlett - Carly Bartlett serves as the Young Women's Pastor / Associate Young Adult Ministry Director at Eagle Nazarene Church in the Boise, Idaho area. She is also a worship leader and speaker with Woods End Ministries, which she co-founded in 2012. Carly has a desire to see young people embrace their God-given identities and become strong, courageous followers of Him! She loves to travel (especially to Disneyland), drink coffee, and play with her goldendoodle puppy, Shirley. Above all, Carly's favorite thing in the whole wide world is spending time with her husband and their sweet baby girl. Follow Carly's adventures on Twitter @barlycartlett

Session 2: Matt Boyle - Matt was born and raised in Chicago, IL but has since moved down south. He is currently the senior pastor of Ecclesia Clear Lake Church in Houston, TX where he lives with his wonderful wife of seven years, Corrie, and their two awesome kids Nyleigha (3) and Parker (1). Matt loves Jesus, meeting new people, sports, and lots of other things. We're excited to welcome Matt back for his second summer at That Thing!

Session 3: Nirup Alphonse - Nirup is the Founder and Lead Pastor of Elevation Church, one of the fastest growing church plants in the Denver metro. Although the church is brand new, the sermons are watched all over the world, and the mobile app is the most downloaded of all church plants in 2015. Pastor Nirup has been privileged to minister to a global audience, speaking at conferences, college campuses, business seminars and churches around the world. Pastor Nirup received his undergraduate education from Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois and will finish his Masters in Theological Studies from Liberty University. He has been married to his wife, Hannah, for the past seven years. Together they have two rambunctious sons, Jaihan Christian and Elijah Paul.

Session 4: April Diaz - April has pastored in the local church almost 20 years at two of the most influential churches in the country. She is most passionate about coming alongside leaders who are women, youth workers, or advocates for orphans. Currently, she’s the Director of Coaching at The Youth Cartel and an associate in the youth department of Slingshot Group. She speaks and writes frequently on matters of youth ministry, soul care, and leadership. Secretly, she’s a total girly girl and reads more than she can put into practice. She’s still madly in love with her high school sweetheart, Brian. Together, they co-parent the most beautiful Ethiopians, Judah and Addise, and bio son, Asher.

Meet the That Thing 2016 Worship Band:

Holman - Based out of Ohio, Holman is a worship band born out of a desire to see people actively engage in worship with our Creator. As a band, Holman has a dynamic and unique approach to worship as its members seek first to glorify God through leading others, and second to provide opportunity for people to engage with the Truth of the Gospel and the reality of God and His love for them. Holman loves to lead people into a time of worship, but values personal relationships over all - we can't wait to get to know them this summer at That Thing 2016! Learn more about Holman and listen to their music here.
